Highly Anticipated Luxury Cars for 2013

There are certain things consumers expect from a luxury vehicle. First and foremost, they want a car that looks sleek, sophisticated, and most of all, expensive. It must have a stylish exterior and the inside should be comfortable, quiet, roomy, and chock full of the latest technological wizardry to grace the automotive world. Power everything, voice commands, and touch-screen navigation aren’t even the height of luxury anymore - these days it’s all about connectivity. So if your car isn’t wirelessly charging your smartphone even as it reads your text messages to you, then you might not be able to classify it under the category of luxury. But of course, it must also feature speed and agility. And one other thing to be expected with this type of car: a pretty hefty price tag. If you happen to be in search of the next big thing where luxury vehicles are concerned, here are just a few that are slated for 2013 and why you might want to consider them.

You’re likely familiar with luxury brands like Lamborghini, Bentley, and Porsche, and each of them will have new additions to their lineups in the coming year. Lambo fans are already frothing at the mouth over the upcoming release of the drop-top Aventador LP700-4 Roadster, which was unveiled this year at the Geneva Auto Show. This car may be named after a prize-winning bull, but its low-slung, slicked-back exterior is anything but blunt. However, don’t let the outsides fool you. Under the hood purrs the heart of a powerful animal that can take you from 0 to 60 mph in under three seconds. No wonder the fan boys are already drooling. As for Bentley, they’re set to release a new Continental GT, this one a convertible (although the coupe model will also be available), and Porsche will launch the long-awaited Macan (formerly the Cajun), a V6 SUV meant to be smaller, lighter, and more fuel-efficient than the Cayenne (this last feature is thanks to the turbo diesel engine).

But if you’re not interested in spending an entire year’s salary on your transportation, you’ll find that there are plenty of options that offer luxury without the exorbitant price tag. Audi, BMW, and Mercedes are also set to bring new models to the table next year. The Audi S8 sedan slated for release in 2013 seems gigantic in comparison to the other cars in the automaker’s lineup, but the 4-liter V8, featuring not one, but two turbochargers, will get lead-footed drivers to 60 mph from a dead stop in four seconds flat. Yowsa. And the BMW M6 Gran Coupe is equally anticipated, with a 4.4-liter V8 that boasts 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. And your local Mercedes dealer should soon have the updated E-class for 2013, complete with new styling and drive assistance, a handy feature that the automaker has had in the works for a while.

But if you’re seeking not only luxury, but also a car that can help to ease your conscience where the environment is concerned, look no further than Tesla. Although their popular Roadster seems to be going the way of the dodo, their new Model S for 2013 looks like it could be even better. It can reportedly go from 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds, an unrivaled feat amongst all-electric vehicles, and with an estimated range of 300 miles on a single charge, it can’t be beat. It almost makes the starting price of $85,000 bearable. And when you consider that the Roadster came in at a whopping $100,000+, it looks even better.
