If read the latter way it says the rich are virtuous and so deserving of their wealth, and the poor are flawed and undeserving and so should not expect any breaks from the rich. You could have added the following but it doesn't fit in with your rich good guy/poor bad guy theme: * The rich only give to charities if it can be treated as a tax break, the poor only give to charity for emotional reasoning.
